Gauvreau en Haiti

Gauvreau en Haiti

November 2012

Love has a name; JESUS
Love has a place; our hearts.
Love has a story;
And it's not finished yet.

The first container arrived Friday and the second today. A lot of work needs to be done. The barn was almost empty before we have emptied the containers. (See photos October-November 2012)

Wednesday, October 24

We have started to inventory all the goods that we received and it is going well. We have three young girls from Canada who are helping us and they work well. It is very nice to have someone who does it the way you want it, and we appreciate it very much. (See photos October-November 2012)

We have some of our international staff who has Dengue Fever. I hope that Georges and I will not have it. There is no vaccine for this fever and no personalize medications for Dengue. You catch it by insect’s bites.

It looks like we are in Quebec during the fall when it rains and the wind blows hard. It is cold in the mountain and the temperature is only 15oC (66F). The Hurricane Sandy does not go directly over Haiti, but a tropical storm can cause a lot of harm and damages.

  • We just received a message from the President of Haiti on Facebook:
    Michel Martelly
The tropical storm SANDY is transforming into a Hurricane of category I as it gets closer to Jamaica.

The hurricane Sandy left the South of the island devastated. For the people leaving there, they lost their crops and some their houses.

It looks like the staff is in good health at this time and it is nice to have no one sick. Sunday, two new nurses have arrived to work at the orphanage. They are young and seem very happy to be in Haiti to help. We are very fortunate to have them with us, especially that they have already worked in Haiti before. They will help greatly of the wellbeing of the children.

Last week we had two construction teams with 16 people in total. They did a good work and the structures of two last houses for the children are up. (See photos October-November 2012)

We have replaced the warehouse (Barn) and we know better what we received, but there is still much work to do.

Tuesday, November 20

The temperature is not very nice here in the mountain. We have very little sun and all is humid and cold. There are clouds almost all day and we have rain every nights and also at supper time.

Starting today, we are starting to babysit a little Haitian girl for two weeks. Her adoptive mother goes to visit her family in the States. The worst is to have the nanny in the house during five days in the week to take care of the little girl. I thought that the nanny would bring the girl at her house during
the day and will bring her back before supper, but this is not the case. I am panicking and I am asking God to help me a lot with this.

Wednesday, November 21

So, the nanny is here at my house and it is going not too bad. God helps me a lot so I do not panic; it is so good to have Him with me. He is great and magnificent, full of compassion and unlimited love. The little girl is easy going, she sleep a lot and love to eat like. I had forgotten how much get on the floor, on the high chair and on her. But our dog loves it.

Thursday, November 29

Last Saturday, we went to Cazale to see friends who work at the medical center Real Hope for Haiti. http://www.realhopeforhaiti.org/   GLA works in collaboration with them and we often receive babies, from the center, who are very week, small or premature. The day went very well and it was nice to talk to Allison about our adaptation’s problems. (See photos October-November 2012)

This is the end word:

May the Lord Bless You today!

The Lord bless you

with the riches of His grace;

with the treasures of His love;

with the comfort of His mercies;

with the strength of His presence;

with the touch of His care.

Cordially,  Jocelyne and Georges
