Take hold of who you are and what you're called to do...God's got bigger plans for your life than you've even imagined! - Holley Gerth

We just came back from the bank and the grocery store. Just for the bank it took us 1h45m from the time we got in until we came out. Luckily I was in the line for older people… Georges and I are really tired.

While I was at the bank, Georges went to close the account for the television. It has been 2 months that we are trying to cancel our contract because we have been without programs; sometimes we will get the local channel, but it is overwhelming. And during this time we must pay for it even if you do not received the programs you asked for. What do you think? The frustrations are not what we are lacking.

Sunday, May 19

What a wonderful weekend we had, different from all the others that we lived in Haiti. Friday, we went to Delmas 75 to see inter-school tournament. Mark, son of Dixie and John, was playing for Quesqueya Christian School team. We had a great time.

Saturday afternoon, we went to Simon’s house, a Haitian who is selling items in a very small boutique at the Baptist Mission. At home, we saw his Haitian art boutique, these items are not sold on the street and they are more expensive and no bargain. After had a great time talking and he wants us to come back more often.

Today Sunday morning, we had a praise and worship service with Bible reading. Beginning of the afternoon, we went down in Petionville to do some grocery; and to crown it all, a supper at Utopia Grill Restaurant to celebrate our 37 years of wedding. We were the only clients and there was a group of musicians who were playing Haitian Troubadour Music. They also sang some French and Canadian songs for us in French. It was wonderful. For part of the meal, we had the company of the owner of the house, Nicole. Her son-in-law owns the restaurant. We had a very interesting conversation…

Tuesday, May 21

Presently, we have a team of 11 people including five men who came to help finish building the houses for the children. They are almost done and we will soon start to build the school, and then the house for the director and her assistant. We will all be happy when the older kids will be living in the magnificent place.

I have found these names of God, but I know there is more.

Jehovah Shalom - Giver of Peace

Jehovah Rohi - Good Shepherd

Jehovah Nissi - Battle Fighter

Jehovah Jireh - Provider

Jehovah Shammah - Ever Present One

Jehovah Rophe - Healer

Jehovah Tsidkenu - Our Righteousness

Tomorrow it will be our 37 wedding anniversary. It is because of Jesus that we are still together. God was gracious to us and He still is.

Georges went down to Petionville at Access Haiti, our Internet provider, because we have been without Internet for a week. The first time he phoned the guy told him that it was a mistake from the company and he should phone him back soon. He phoned again last night and the guy told him that because the payment was refused by the credit card, which was not true.

So this morning, hopefully the guy at the accounting department will fix it all as he said. And our TV provider was the same company and they had not notified the accounting department that our contract was terminated. So they took the whole payment for May. I am just about to blow… According to what I read on the Expat FB page, we are not the only one.

Thank you Lord the Internet situation has been resolved this afternoon.

A Brazilian military aircraft is presently blocking the Toussaint-Louverture Airport, an engine took fire and the front wheel is broken. This happened yesterday. It has shut the Port-au-Prince airport down and planes won't be arriving until the plane has been removed far enough from the runway to make it safe that the wings of other airplanes will not clip it and cause another accident.

Update on the situation at the airport this morning.

Following the incident involving a Brazilian military aircraft yesterday, the runway remains partially blocked. Whereas the aircraft ran off the runway onto the grass, the tail of the aircraft is still sticking out onto runway.

The Haitian authorities are expected to make a decision this morning at around 09:30 as to whether the aircraft can be moved in some way. In the interim, the decision, to land or not, is left to the individual pilot.

We have a team of 10 people caught here in Haiti until Thursday and another volunteer who will leave tomorrow afternoon, hopefully.  We have 6 adoptive parents stuck in Miami who will arrive tomorrow afternoon if they open back up.  We have volunteers stuck in Montreal, and an adoptive family coming to take their twins home.  Please pray that everything will work out for everyone and that everyone can stay patient and flexible without too much stress.

An update on the adoption in Haiti, by Dixie Bickel, GLA:

IBESR recently allowed all orphanages to put in some dossiers under the old policy of us matching children and putting them into IBESR.  We worked hard to get 13 dossiers ready and in on the days they allotted.  So 13 more families are in the process and only a few dossiers are still waiting for IBESR to make the proposal under the new policy.  This was a great blessing for all of the families involved and for us too!

The new adoption law has been passed by the Haitian Senate and just needs to be voted on again by the House of Deputies.  It then will go to the President's office to be signed and has to be published three times in the state journal, the “Moniteur”.  After that, it becomes law!  We cannot wait for this to happen.  Thirty years old and married five years!  What a blessing those requirements will be!

This is the end word:

I Believe In What Jesus Said

...know Me, believe Me and remain steadfast to Me, and understand that I am He. Isaiah 43:10 AMP

I believe Jesus' words; they are the foundation of my life.

I cannot know what Jesus has said without knowing the Scriptures. His words are there for me to hear, to believe, to receive, and to obey. His words are true words, good words, living words, whole words, righteous words. -Roy Lessin

Cordially,

Jocelyne and Georges
